Ernie Durbin is Senior Advisor, Valuation and Modeling at Nationwide Property & Appraisal Services (NPAS) and a long-time valuation strategist and technologist. He develops methodologies and technology-enabled approaches that power proprietary valuation solutions, and he applies more than 40 years of residential valuation experience to portfolio review, due diligence, and complex collateral decisions. Ernie has been appointed Chair of the Ohio Real Estate Appraiser Board, after serving as a board member and as Vice Chair. The Board oversees Ohio’s appraiser registration, licensure, and certification program and administers enforcement and education requirements when needed. He holds the prestigious CRE designation from The Counselors of Real Estate and the SRA and AI-RRSdesignations from the Appraisal Institute. Durbin has contributed to various special projects, including the Appraiser Development Initiative (ADI). He received the 2018 Valuation Visionary award from the Collateral Risk Network (CRN)and serves on the Real Property Valuation Committee for the National Association of Realtors. In his private practice, Durbin focuses on complex residential valuation challenges. He is married to Velina and has four children.

Ernie has been appointed Chair of the Ohio Real Estate Appraiser Board, after serving as a board member and as Vice Chair. Additionally, Durbin has earned the SRA and AI-RRS designations from the Appraisal Institute. He has contributed to several special projects and serves as an advisor for the Appraiser Development Initiative (ADI), a nationwide program aimed at attracting newcomers to the real estate appraisal field while promoting diversity. He has also held positions with The Appraisal Foundation, including membership on the Appraisal Practices Board and the Industry Advisory Council (IAC).
As a former member of the Executive Council of the Collateral Risk Network (CRN), Durbin was honored with the 2018 Valuation Visionary award, which recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and professionalism within the valuation profession. This accolade is awarded based on peer nominations from the CRN.
Durbin is affiliated with the National Association of Realtors, holding the Residential Accredited Appraiser (RAA)designation and serving on the Real Property Valuation Committee. This committee assesses issues related to real property valuation and proposes policy recommendations to the National Association of Realtors and other industry stakeholders.
In his private appraisal practice, Durbin specializes in identifying and addressing complex residential valuation challenges in the Greater Cincinnati area. His expertise includes specialized assignments such as relocation, review, REO, and forensic appraisal work.
